Expert Repair Company fixes dishwashers that will not drain, will not clean, will not start or will not stop leaking, in Citrus Heights and across the Sacramento area. Call (279) 225-1050; the technician diagnoses the machine on site and carries the drain pumps, inlet valves and door latches that fail most often.

How a dishwasher repair visit goes

Every visit follows four steps, so you know what you are agreeing to before anyone touches the machine.

  1. Call or book. Give us the brand, the symptom and, if you can find it, the model number on the door edge. Same-day appointments are often available Monday through Friday.
  2. Diagnosis. The technician runs the machine, listens to the fill and drain, checks the filter and sump, and tests the pump, valve, heater and control as the symptom points. Typically 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Firm quote. Parts and labor priced before any work starts. Approve it and the $99 diagnostic fee is waived.
  4. Repair, test, clean up. The technician completes the repair, runs a cycle to verify fill, wash, heat and drain, and leaves the kitchen as it was found.

What is wrong with my dishwasher?

Most dishwasher failures come down to the drain pump, the filter, the water inlet valve, the door latch, the heating element or the wash pump motor. What you see in the tub usually tells us which one.

Water standing in the bottom after the cycle. The filter and sump are clogged with food and hard-water scale, the drain pump has jammed on a piece of glass, or the drain hose is kinked. If this started right after a new garbage disposal went in, the disposal’s knockout plug was never removed. Our guide on a dishwasher not draining walks through each case.

Dishes come out dirty or gritty. Spray arms blocked with scale, a wash pump motor that has lost pressure, or a worn circulation impeller. Hard water in the Sacramento area accelerates all three.

Will not start, lights blink. A door latch switch not closing the circuit, a failed touchpad or control board, or a tripped thermal fuse.

No water enters, or it fills very slowly. The inlet valve is scaled shut or its solenoid has failed. Occasionally the float switch is stuck up.

Leak from under the door. A worn door gasket, a cracked lower door seal on Bosch and Whirlpool models, or a damaged spray arm sending water at the door. Leaks from the base are usually a pump seal or a split hose.

Dishes come out wet and cold. The heating element or its relay has failed, so the water never heats and the dry cycle does nothing. On Bosch units with condensation drying, check the rinse aid dispenser first.

Loud grinding or buzzing. Glass or a fruit pit in the drain pump impeller, or a failing wash motor bearing.

Soap dispenser will not open. A failed dispenser solenoid, a warped dispenser door, or scale in the latch.

Hard water and older kitchens in the Sacramento area

Water across Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Fair Oaks and Orangevale runs hard, and the dishwasher is the appliance that suffers most. Scale plugs spray-arm holes, coats the heating element and cements the inlet valve.

In the 1970s homes that make up much of Carmichael, Fair Oaks and Orangevale, we also see original drain plumbing with no high loop or air gap, which causes slow draining no matter how new the dishwasher is. Newer Folsom and Roseville kitchens more often have Bosch, KitchenAid and Thermador built-ins, where a leak sensor in the base pan shuts the unit down and must be found and dried before anything else will run.

Dishwasher brands we repair

Bosch, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, Maytag and Kenmore make up most of the dishwashers in the Sacramento area kitchens, and we service all of them. For higher-end built-ins we repair Thermador, JennAir, Electrolux and Viking. Model-specific quirks matter: Bosch drain pumps and flow-through heaters, Whirlpool and KitchenAid diverter motors, Samsung leak sensors and Frigidaire sump assemblies each have their own patterns.

Pricing

A $99 diagnostic covers finding the fault, and it is waived when you approve the repair. Checking a second appliance on the same visit, such as the garbage disposal that shares the dishwasher’s drain, adds $25.

The quote you approve is the price you pay. Typical part-level ranges are in our dishwasher and oven repair cost guide.

Should you repair or replace the dishwasher?

Repair a dishwasher under about 8 years old when the fix is under half the price of a comparable new machine. Past 10 to 12 years, or when the wash motor and control board fail together, replacement usually wins.

Dishwashers live shorter lives than refrigerators, so the threshold is lower. A drain pump, inlet valve, latch, gasket or heating element on a 6-year-old Bosch or KitchenAid is an easy yes. A board plus a motor on a 12-year-old builder-grade unit is not, because the racks and tub are already worn. You get the honest math on site.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my dishwasher not draining completely?

The most common causes are a clogged filter and sump, a drain pump blocked by glass or a seed, a kinked drain hose, or a garbage disposal whose knockout plug was never removed. Clean the filter first. If water still stands after a cycle, the pump or drain path needs checking, which is a quick diagnostic for us.

Can you repair a Bosch dishwasher?

Yes. Bosch is one of the most common dishwashers in Folsom and Roseville, and we carry the drain pumps, flow-through heaters and door seals that fail on them. Bosch error codes such as E24 and E15 point us to the fault quickly, so tell us the code when you call.

How long does a dishwasher repair take?

Most repairs are finished in 45 to 75 minutes on the first visit when the part is on the van. Drain pumps, inlet valves, latches, gaskets and heating elements usually are. Control boards may need to be ordered, in which case we return as soon as the part arrives.

Is it worth repairing a 10-year-old dishwasher?

A pump, valve, latch or element on a well-built 10-year-old Bosch, KitchenAid or Whirlpool is often worth doing. A motor and control board on a 10-year-old budget model usually is not. We quote before work begins so you can decide with real numbers.

Why does my dishwasher leave a white film on glasses?

Hard water. Sacramento-area water leaves calcium deposits on glass, spray arms and the heating element. Rinse aid, a monthly citric-acid cleaning cycle and, in bad cases, a water softener all help. If the film appeared suddenly, the rinse aid dispenser may have failed.

Do you offer same-day dishwasher repair?

Same-day appointments are often available Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, especially in Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Fair Oaks and Orangevale, which are close to our shop. Call early in the day for the best chance at a same-day slot. Call Expert Repair Company and get the dishwasher draining, cleaning and drying again.
